Whistler, British Columbia – A Photo Essay

Every winter my boyfriend and I spend a few days in Whistler before Christmas.  It’s a time to unwind, enjoy  nice meals and wine and for Seth, to snowboard.  The way up was a sunny day, cold but clear skies.  We arrived at the Four Seasons just in time for the 4pm daily wine tasting where we savoured Kettle Valley’s white and red wines.  We sat on the comfy leather lounge chairs while the sun set and families gathered in the snow outside around the bonfire making s’mores.
That evening the snow began to fall.  When we woke it was still falling. We dressed in our warmest sweaters, gloves and boots and took a stroll through the village.  We did a little Christmas shopping for family, the temperature dipping further as the afternoon went on.  We stopped in for a holiday drink at Starbucks on our way back to the hotel and were glad to warm ourselves next to the fire in the room.
The drive home was slow as the roads were slick and snow fell in large flakes creating white outs.  From the warmth of the car it was easy to enjoy the frozen rivers, foggy valleys and the spruce heavy with snow as Christmas music played on the radio.  There’s something about the grand mountains that surround this coast that I never tire of.  I love my BC home.
