Christmas at Hycroft Manor – A Photo Essay

Have yourself a merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay
Next year all our troubles
Will be miles away…

Hycroft Manor is a 30 room mansion originally a family home. Built in the Shaughnessy neighbourhood in Vancouver in 1909, it now houses the University Women’s club.  Every year they do Christmas at the Hycroft, a fair featuring artisans from all over the city.  Spiced nuts, chocolate, essential oil products, knitted gloves and scarves are just some of the things you can shop for.

My sister, mother and I arrived at the grand iron gates, festive with oversized wreaths and the music of bagpipes filling the cool November air. There was a festive feeling as guests mingled from room to room shopping and sampling chocolate truffles and shortbread.  I picked up a couple of stocking stuffers and a jar of my favourite coconut powdered bath milk.

The sun shone bright all afternoon and was beginning to set by the time we left. With the temperature dipping, we ducked into a warm cafe for hot chocolate and almond croissants.  It had been about 4 years since I last attended this event and it was a wonderful way to kick off the Holiday Season.

Until next time.

Love,
