What do you love most about Vancouver?

Easy access to amazing hiking, the weather (compared to the rest of the country), I can walk almost anywhere from my place, people are friendly,  amazing food & shopping options.

If you only had 24 hrs to spend in Vancouver what would you do?

Take the trolly around Stanley Park taking photos along the way.  Jump off downtown and shop for clothes and makeup on Robson,  Oysters and a glass of prosecco for lunch on Granville Island, spend the afternoon at Capilano suspension bridge, head back into the city for dinner and drinks at Espania tapas bar then say it’s July, catch the fireworks at English Bay, a night cap at Notch8 inside Hotel Vancouver and back to the hotel for a  hot-tub and sleep.

What do you miss most about Vancouver when you’re away?

The mountains, the view from my place, how quiet it is compared to other cities in the world and of course my kitties.

Can you describe a typical day in your life living in Vancouver?

Monday thru Wednesday I’m at work and am a 5 minute peaceful walk from my home.   On my days off I travel around the city, shopping, running errands, hanging out with my husband, family and friends. We like to go out for dinner and drinks a couple of times a week at one of the great restaurants that are walking distance from our place.

What’s something you haven’t done yet that you’re interested in trying in Vancouver?

Snow shoeing.  I finally went tubing this winter at Cypress.  I’d also like to go check out the Sea to Sky gondola – even though it’s not technically in Vancouver.

What’s the best way to unwind in Vancouver?

Going for  a walk. Some of my favourite places are:  Kits beach, the Seawall on False Creek and Pacific Spirit Park.  Take a Yoga class at Semperviva, Take a book to JJ Bean and indulge in one of their chocolate chip cookies and a coffee. If it’s sunny, take a blanket to a park and lay on the grass and work on your tan.

What would be a perfect evening in Vancouver?

Dinner and drinks, catch a great concert at Commodore Ballroom and get a giant slice of pizza on the way home.  Although one night last summer, the night before we flew out to Italy, it was so warm and there were 3 planets aligned in the sky.  I sat out late on my balcony, seated on the ground in meditation. That was pretty close to perfect.

What’s something you wish Vancouverites would stop saying?

That is “miserable” when it rains.  We live in a rainforest and the rain is exactly the reason it’s so lush and green here.  I love the ferns and giant trees and if they need rain to thrive, bring it on!

What’s your favourite season in Vancouver?

Autumn. After all the busy-ness of Summer, everything just slows down, the air gets crisp and a walk in the woods over crunching leaves wearing a cozy sweater and scarf is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.  Then the storms come in November with rain and high winds and all I want to do is cook while the view outside is hidden behind the mist.

The cherry blossoms in the Spring.  Fireworks, BBQ’s with family and  afternoons floating on a lake in the Summer. Forest walks, storms and Halloween in the Fall and tubing, ice skating, christmas shopping and lots of cozy evenings in all Winter.
