Dreaming Of The Future, Remembering The Past – A Journal

It’s overcast but balmy. Im sitting in the garden amongst the mints, thymes, blueberries and sage.  Its almost time to harvest , dry and store them; they’ll add their lovely flavours to soups and dressings.

The rain is coming, we’re going to get out for a walk along the ocean before it does as it’s supposed to stay for the rest of the week.

In a month I’ll be going on my Birthday trip to the Northern Island.  I’m so looking forward to it.  We’ll be staying in the tiny village of Telegraph Cove with it’s wood boardwalk, quaint shops and pubs.  We’ll also be visiting Cape Scott Provincial Park for a beach hike to the sea stacks at San Josef Bay.  Bears and wolves abound in this remote corner of world,  I’m packing an airhorn, just saying.  I can’t wait to photographing these places, they’ve been on my list of places to visit for years.

Facebook memories reminded me that 2 years ago today we were on our honeymoon and on this very day we were in Barcelona eating some of the most delicious creamed potatoes we’d ever tried at Cafe Europa. They’re called Aligot, a french dish; I’ve purposely not made them so as not to sabotage our waistlines.

Many of my memories (I don’t know you) revolve around food. Perhaps it’s because I love cooking.  Visiting Granville Island Market here in the city for fresh pasta and fennel sausages for Boscaiola.  Picking up flavoured salts at La Boqueria,  Paella at the Born Street Food Festival in Barcelona, our engagement dinner at sunset on the beach in Montego Bay.  What a pleasure it is – Food.

I’m feeling meditative and have been Quantum Jumping, a type of guided visualization where you move into your future life. I enjoy meditating in the garden at twilight. I’ll turn on the fairy lights and leap into the future.  Where do you see yourself in 5, 10, 20 years?  I don’t know exactly where I’ll be but it will be somewhere along our rugged coastline. Forests, mist, the raging ocean, this is what feeds my soul, excites and inspires me.

Happy Weekend.

Love,

Jennifer
